The Romans said: “The Bacchus loves the hills.” And indeed, the best vineyards of the world are located either on the slopes or on the plateau
.
The amount of heat produced by the vineyard increases with vertical incidence of the rays. The angle of incidence is determined by the orientation and sharpness of the slope. Vineyards on the slopes are better illuminated by rays of the sun. The higher the location of the vineyard above sea level, the smaller the amplitude of temperature fluctuations of day and night in autumn and winter. On the southern slopes, the same grape variety ripens 1-2 weeks earlier than in the plain. Typical diseases have almost no effect on these vineyards because of better ventilation, rapid evaporation and rainwater runoff
.
The height of 350-550m above sea level, the south-west orientation of the slopes on which Ca’Botta vineyards are located, the abundance of sun and wind – all these factors create an exceptionally favorable atmosphere for outstanding wine ?
